Elves

Elves were the first race to populate Middle Earth and were given many advantages by the gods.  They physically mature somewhat less quickly than humans, reaching full size at about the age of 25, at which point they stop aging altogether.  Emotionally and mentally, they can take hundreds of years to mature because members of their race never die from old age and rarely succumb to disease or hunger.  Elves are an inherently magical race, with very few unable to cast any spells at all.

There are three main groupings of Elves, depending on how well they or their ancestors responded to the call of the Valar to come to the light.

Fair Elves – Came to the light early and never left.  The very few Fair Elves that are seen in Middle Earth are on missions for the Valar and leave Middle Earth as quickly as possible.  They are the most dangerous people common folk can encounter because they are frequently equipped with powerful magic items and evil creatures inherently hate them.  Players CANNOT be Fair Elves.

High Elves – Came to the light but left to retrieve the Silmarils and stayed in Middle Earth after the fall of Morgoth at the end of the First Age.  It is rare to encounter High Elves outside of the Grey Havens and Rivendell these days.  High Elves tend to be the most active of all Elves and the proudest and the most proficient in weapons and magic.  Evil creatures do not like them and the feeling is mutual.
